JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT ANNOUNCES
NOVA SCOTIA BUSINESS HALL OF FAME LAUREATES
| Colour has long been a partner of Junior Achievement Nova Scotia. For the past 13 years, the advertising and public relations agency has been the presenting sponsor for the Junior Achievement Nova Scotia Business Hall of Fame event that promotes the activities of the organization while celebrating the achievements of Nova Scotian business leaders. Since 1993, 56 individuals have been inducted into the Nova Scotia Business Hall of Fame. This year, three more Nova Scotians will be added to this list: Ralph Medjuck, Al MacPhee, and the late Joseph Zatzman. |

Ralph Medjuck is the current Chairman and CEO of Centennial Group Limited, a company that can take credit for many of Halifax’s prominent buildings including The Lord Nelson Hotel, Park Victoria, The Prince George Hotel as well as many of the city’s office buildings, senior citizen’s facilities and apartment buildings. Outside of the office, he has given a great deal of time to his community including serving as Chairman of the Neptune Theatre Foundation, Director of the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Nova Scotia Human Rights Foundation, as well as council member for the Halifax Board of Trade, among many others. Medjuck has received numerous accolades for his business acumen and community service including an honorary Doctorate of Law from Dalhousie, The Queen’s Jubilee Medal, as well as the Tourism Industry Association’s Tourism Vision Award.

Al MacPhee is President of one of the top ten General Motors Dealerships in Canada, MacPhee Pontiac Buick GMC Ltd, which has been honored by Time Magazine, Maclean’s and GMC for automotive dealership quality and excellence. One of four dealerships owned by MacPhee, MacPhee Pontiac Buick GMC Ltd is the largest Pontiac Dealership in Atlantic Canada. In addition to financially supporting and counseling entrepreneurs, MacPhee has also set a strong philanthropy example in the region with his dealerships contributing to such causes as the Metro United Way, Tim Horton’s Children’s Foundation, Symphony Nova Scotia, and the Canadian Institute for the Blind. Individually, he serves on the Board of Governors for Cape Breton University and Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia, and has sat on the boards for the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, the Neptune Theater Foundation, and the Dartmouth Natal Day Committee.

The late Joseph Zatzman had a memorable career in the Nova Scotia business community that spanned seven decades. The former mayor of Dartmouth was instrumental in the growth and progression of the city including the development of the Burnside Industrial Park, the building of the MacKay Bridge, the 1967 Centennial, new schools, as well as a new police station and City Hall. Outside of the political realm Zatzman operated one of the largest property management companies in the province, Maplehurst Properties Ltd. He was issued an honorary Doctorate of Law from Saint Mary’s University, was awarded the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada medal, and in 1997 was named to the Order of Canada for his outstanding contributions to his country. Additionally, he served as Canada Summer Games Director in 1967, was Chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, a Governor of Saint Mary’s University, and Vice President of the Nova Scotia Liberal Association.
Colour congratulates all of this year’s inductees and is looking forward to being an integral part of the production of the gala. The event has raised more than $1.5 million, which has gone directly to support program delivery by Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia.
