BLUE OCEAN CONTACT CENTERS

A FINALIST FOR BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

Blue Ocean Contact Centers is thrilled to announce that they have been chosen as a finalist for Business of the Year by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber annually honors the success of the Halifax business community as part of the Halifax Business Awards with 2010 marking the 10th anniversary of the event.

“It is a huge honor to be recognized by The Chamber,” says Blue Ocean COO, Elizabeth Currie. “Halifax has been the foundation of our operations since we started out 15 years ago. It has been the ideal place to grow our business due to the quality of people we are able to hire, the support of our local business partners, and the opportunities we have to contribute to making the city a better place for everyone.”

Sponsored by the Business Development Bank of Canada, the Business of the Year Award recognizes companies that represent the best the city has to offer by showing innovative ideas, risk-taking, and exceptional business sense, all while maintaining the financial needs of the business and contributing to the community at large. Blue Ocean was recognized for their growth, trail-blazing initiatives, having a good working environment with “green” initiatives, customer quality, and community involvement.

“We’re growing significantly,” says Elizabeth, “and are able to showcase Halifax as one of Canada’s premiere business centers. As a company who is operating on an international scale with clients throughout North America, we are proud to call Halifax home.”

Nominees are judged by a committee consisting of 5 of Halifax’s top business professionals led this year by Mr. Brad Langille, one of the founding partners of WBLI Chartered Accountants. Other categories include Small Business of the Year, New Business of the Year, and Business Person of the Year.  Additional finalists in the Business of the Year category include Clayton Developments Ltd., Lydon Lynch Architects Ltd. and Nicom IT Solutions.

Award winners will be announced at The Chamber’s signature event of the year – The Halifax Business Awards Gala that will take place on January 28th at the World Trade and Convention Center and will be sponsored by the Globe and Mail.
